PIF-300 Review

The PetsafePIF-300 Covers up to 1/2 an acre which might seem like it’s on the lower side of things but it is pretty much the perfect size for most pet owners if they don’t live on something like a farm or anywhere else where their dog is likely to have huge amounts of space to wander. The flags that come with the PIF 300 make it super easy to move things around and change your perimeter freely without a lot of hassle which is a really nice feature.

There are of course no wires with this fence and it is completely wireless which at the same time makes future maintenance something you don’t have to worry about which with some like an underground wired fence would be a huge hassle.

The batteries last about 2-3 months for most people which is very impressive and the batteries are very cheap to replace. djust power of shock, up to lbs, up to 26 inches, The PIF-300 in my opinion has the most easy installation out of all the wireless fences, 15 lbs or more

#2 Petsafe Stay and Play

Hard to set up

Stay and Play Review

Similar to the Pif-300 the Stay and Play but instead covers an area up to 3/4 an acre and can be used by multiple dogs. It comes with 5 adjustable shock settings like some of the others which means you can get the best setting for your different dogs as the stay and play has the option to be used by multiple dogs at the same time provided you just buy more collars.

The one downside the stay and play I would say is that it was quite difficult to set up compared to some of the others out there but with pet safe their support really is just great so being able to phone them up and read their online resources was what helped me in the end with the Stay and Play.

Delay issues

Peri Meter Review

Last but not least the peri meter covers up to 2.5 acres which is less then the Havhart but still more than the Petsafe products which makes it a good option for people with a slightly bigger than average yard. The collar fits dogs up 20lbs or more which means the Peri Meter is your best bet if you have a larger sized dog.

It comes with 50 flags to set up your perimeter which is more than enough for most dog owners but still gives you plenty of freedom with this. The collar battery lasts 1 week and of course you can recharge your collar.

One nice feature of the Peri Meter is that the system can be used by up to two dogs and one bad feature is that the I did experience some intermitent delay issues but did they disappear after some time.

#4 Havahart Radial Shape

Battery life not great

Support not great

Havahart Review

If you have a large yard then this is absolutely the best wireless fence for you as it covers up to 11 acres which as you can imagine gives your dogs so much room to roam. If you want to use this fence then you should make sure that your dog weighs up to 8 lbs and has a neck size of in between 12 and 17 inches. The batteries in the Havahart collar last up to 3 days but are rechargeable.

The collar of course has an adjustable shock control and one unique feature that stands out with the Havahart is the inside home alert system. You can set this up in the inside of your house and it will give you an audio alert whenever your dog breaches the perimeter you have set up which is a great way to give you peace of mind.

The whole Havahart fence takes up about 60 minutes to setup but may be quicker or longer depending on how good you are with things like that. One feature that I thought was a let down was the level of support of Havahart, last time I checked it wasn’t that great and definitely not as good as PetSafes support.

Why use a wireless fence?

Lets face it… leaving your dog tied up all day or stuck inside would be nice for you and it definitely isn’t any better for your dog. Of course it’s dangerous if your dog runs away and you might think you’re doing it for your dogs benefit. When using a wireless dog fence you don’t have to spend money on traditional expensive fencing that your dog might just be able to jump over anyway.

Wireless fence is far more cheaper to setup, way more easier to maintain and in the end your dog is going to be a lot more happier and safe at the end of it’s training with the fence. It will be able to roam freely safe from danger and no doubt you will also have a lot more peace of mind once you have set up the best wireless fence as you can relax inside your house at peace knowing your dog won’t be running off anywhere.

My closing thoughts

Petsafe are by far the leaders when it comes to the wireless fence market, they have good support systems with a phone number you can phone for queries, they have a plethora of good reviews online due to their high quality product that simply works. This is why they take up my Number 1 and 3 spots. Havart are simply the go to for people with huge yards for their pet dogs and the perimeter is the go to for people with larger than average sized dogs.

All the wireless fences collars in my top 4 are water proof and all products also come with a life time warranty meaning they are going to long last a good length of time looking after your dogs.
